Your apartment fitness center is a great place to relax at the end of a long workday and invest in your health. However, if you’ve never had a gym membership before or used exercise equipment, you might not be sure where to start. Here are some of our favorite easy exercises that you can do in your Apartments of Wildewood fitness center!
Try HIIT
High-intensity interval training (HIIT) is an excellent type of exercise you can easily do in the fitness center with your chosen cardio machine. HIIT is proven to provide outstanding results and be more effective than other types of cardio. It combines short bursts of intense exercise with longer gaps of low-effort activity. HIIT is particularly great for fat loss and improving your cardiovascular health. Download a workout timer or app from your phone to keep track of when you should be changing the intensity level of your workout from a job to a sprint or a high incline to a lower incline. Some machines may also have programs built in that automatically increase your workout intensity at set intervals.
Plyometrics
If your apartment fitness center is busy and you don’t want to worry about using a machine or are unfamiliar with the machines and want to build up your confidence using bodyweight exercises, plyometrics is a great idea. Getting a fantastic workout using only your weight and a yoga mat is not hard. Apartment fitness centers have a yoga studio or room for residents to lay down their mats and have enough space for movement. Some of the best exercises to get your heart rate up and feel the burn include:
- Mountain climbers
- Reverse lunges
- Jump squats
- Push-ups
- Burpees
- Planks
- Russian twists
You can also use a set of dumbbells in your workout to increase the intensity of your lunges. Has it been a while since you worked out? Start small and focus on building up your endurance!
Mix It Up
There is nothing wrong with getting on the treadmill at your fitness center and staying on it for the duration of your workout, but it can get boring. If you want to remain enthusiastic about your exercise routine, one way to keep it interesting is by mixing things up. Start your workout on the treadmill walking on an incline. Next, switch to some lunges. Work through some bodyweight exercises, like crunches or planks, and switch back to the treadmill to cool down.
