1. Making Room
There’s nothing wrong with reorganizing some things when you know you will have people over. Removing furniture from spaces is an easy way to open them up, though it’s not always practical. Instead, you may need to push some furniture up against a wall temporarily just to add some extra space. If you have a spare bedroom, it’s always a good idea to keep some of the clutter in there while you have people over.
2. Thinking About Serving Spaces
If you’re going to be serving up food, think about how you use the surfaces in your home. The kitchen table and counters are obvious answers but any flat surface can be used to serve of some snacks. Sometimes, it’s all about disguising surfaces and making them more visually appealing. This is easily done with some fancy fabric you can throw down and make your coffee table or other surfaces look appropriate for a gathering.
3. Cook Ahead of Time
If you have a smaller apartment, you may want to avoid cooking while you have people over. This can lead to rooms getting hot and all those scents building up a bit too much. Instead, do all of your cooking beforehand so you just have to reheat everything for everyone. This cuts down on your stress as well!
4. Repurposing Spaces
If you’re really tight on usable space, considering switching up how areas are used. Your kitchen is a totally suitable place for people to mingle in, provided you have adequate serving areas and standing room.
