Don’t be afraid to really enforce this because it will save you from having to steam clean your carpets more often than you might like. Another way of preventing big messes is to keep coasters out and easily assessable to everyone at the gathering. This will minimize long term damages to your wood and other surfaces.
Clean up beforehand.
Cleaning really well before people come over might seem like a waste of time considering that they are just going to mess it up again, but think about this. People are more likely to treat a freshly cleaned area with more care than one that is messy. After all, it shows that you put in a lot of effort to make your home nice for their arrival, so they may feel the need to put in a little effort themselves. This, sadly, doesn’t work on kids or pets.
