Gather All Documents Before Applying
Applying for an apartment is an exciting thing; so exciting that you may overlook some necessary elements that applications require. Ensure that you’re keeping paystubs so you can present them as proof of income. If you can’t do that, or you have direct deposit, contact your payroll/HR director at work and ask about them. If you’re bringing a pet, you may need their documentation and confirmation from your vet that they’re up to date on their shots.
Label Your Moving Boxes
If you want to make unpacking easier, you should be labeling your boxes with clear and easy-to-understand indicators. Pack by room so that you won’t have a mix of different items dispersed between several boxes. Keep your bathroom items separate from bedroom items, and so-on. Essentials should be unpacked before any decor or personal items. At the very least, ensure your bed is ready to go on the first night!
Prepare to Transfer Pets
Pets need a little more care when they move than you may think. They have no idea what’s going on. Adjusting to a new area can be really difficult for them, and shy pets may hide under the bed for a few days. They should be moved with care; keep a few familiar toys and items out for them to recognize when they arrive. Allow them to explore, even if you plan to block off areas later.
