Easy Maintenance Tasks for Any Apartment Renter

Read on for a few easy maintenance tasks you should be keeping up with as an apartment renter.

Perhaps one of the main benefits of renting a townhouse apartment is that you never have to worry about those serious, obnoxious maintenance problems. You won’t have to worry about serious appliances breaking or your shower not working, which is very convenient for a lot of people. That being said, you are still going to have to do a couple of things as an apartment renter. No worries at all though, they are all small in scope! Read on for a few easy maintenance tasks you should be keeping up with as an apartment renter.

Checking Your Light Bulbs

You will have to regularly swap out light bulbs in your townhouse apartment to keep it well-lit and looking sharp. Those aren’t the only bulbs you have to worry about, though. If you see any lights outside your apartment that are out, make sure to contact your landlord so they can help replace them. Lighting may not seem like a serious deal, but it can be a severe crime deterrent around the community.

Cleaning Off Grout

You should always keep your bathroom fresh and clean, just like a spa. To do this, use vinegar, baking soda, and hot water to get your bathroom sparkling again. If this is not strong enough, then hydrogen peroxide is another option. If there are huge gaps or cracks in your shower’s grout, let your apartment landlord know. Issues like this can lead to potential water damage, which will be frustrating for both you and your landlord in the long run.

Maintaining Your Apartment Air Vents

If you’re able to reach, try cleaning out your air vents, especially before you begin to use your cooling or heating at the start of the summer or winter. This makes your townhouse apartment more breathable and less stuffy, which is vital for any apartment renter.

Tackling Drain Clogs

Just like cleaning your bathtub or shower out, you can deal with clogs through a combination of baking soda, vinegar, and water. First, try pouring baking soda down into the drain, followed by the same amount of vinegar. Once it is done fizzling out for a bit, pour water, and your clogged drain should then be clean. If the problem persists, then contact your landlord! Any apartment renter should stay in touch with their landlord when things go south.
