How to Use Natural Cleaning Solutions in Your Apartment Kitchen

Apartment

Keeping your apartment tidy, especially the kitchen, is obviously important. That said, you may not want to use chemical-filled store bought cleaners. Give these natural solutions a try instead.

Getting your kitchen clean can be a bit of a headache. Not only is it physically demanding, but all of those toxic cleaners out there can start to make your kitchen rather dizzying. There’s a big call these days for natural cleaning solutions that don’t contain all the chemicals that are in brand name cleaners. You don’t need an overly expensive cleaner and can actually make your own basic cleaners at home. If you’re trying to get your apartment kitchen clean but don’t want to use store-bought cleaning products, give these natural cleaning solutions a chance.

Ovens and Microwaves

When it comes to your microwave, try soaking a sponge in white vinegar or lemon juice and then placing it in the microwave. Heating it for a few minutes and then letting it rest for around five more minutes can do wonders for getting food to come off. You can do something similar for ovens sans the sponge by taking a shallow pan and a few cups of white vinegar. Letting that pan heat up for five to ten minutes and then give your oven half an hour to cool off. This then allows food to be easily wiped down and you can get your oven clean again.

Stovetop Cleaning

Take a bit of cornstarch or baking soda and throw it down onto your stovetop to help get rid of grease. Wiping it down after applying these household products should get your stovetop sparkling clean again. You can also use auto wax to get the surface of an electric stovetop sleek and smooth.

Cleaning Red Dye Spots

Dealing with red dye stains from drinks like wine? Put down enough rubbing alcohol to cover the entire stain and let it rest for a few minutes. Then, wipe it down and use any kind of sudsy cleaner (even dish soap mixed with water will work) to get the counter or other impacted area clean.

Tarnished Silverware

Over time, your silverware may end up tarnished. Heat up two cups of water and add two tablespoons of baking soda then mix. Place your silverware into an aluminum-foil coated pan and add your baking soda mixture and it should cause the tarnish to disappear.
