It all kicks off in September, with countless events for kids, families, and adults. We’ve collected just a few of our favorite upcoming September events in St. Mary’s County here for you to consider.
Sep. 6 – 8: ArtWalk First Friday Weekend: Town of Leonardtown
Explore the Arts and Entertainment District of Leonardtown with dining, shopping, and strolling with friends and family! You can find extra fun events and special deals all around town. This First Friday will feature interactive art and activities and installations!
Sep. 14: Annual Giant Yard Sale at Summerseat Farm
Summerseat Farms kicks off its fall events slate with its annual yard sale! Folks of all ages can find countless cool items for sale, including books, bikes, toys, kitchenware, home decor, furniture, and tools!
Sep. 14: Indigenous Heritage Day at Historic St. Mary’s City
This event is free to museum members, just $10 for adults ($9 for seniors and $6 for students), and free for ages five and below. Honor the culture of the Indigenous peoples of the area while learning skills, trying crafts, and watching demonstrations of traditional crafts and cooking. Performances will be featured throughout the day, demonstrating the vibrant culture of the historic people of Southern Maryland.
Sep. 14: FamilyFest on the Potomac at Piney Point Lighthouse Museum
Admission is free for all for this day of family fun along the Potomac and at the Piney Point Lighthouse Museum. Live music, vendors, food trucks, displays, and family-friendly activities will be available. The proceeds from this event help support the museum and the preservation of the historic Piney Point Lighthouse and grounds!
Sep. 18: Little Explorers: Birds and Their Beaks at Historic St. Mary’s City
This event is designed for preschool children, ages 3-5, and an accompanying adult. Admission is $4 per child, with a free adult admission. You can spend the morning with your little one at Historic St. Mary’s City! Enjoy outdoor explorations, storytime, tactile play, crafts, and movement designed for young kids who are eager to appreciate the beauty of nature.
Sep. 19 – 22: St. Mary’s County Fair at St. Mary’s County Fairgrounds
Apartments of Wildewood residents can prepare to enjoy four days of fun at the St. Mary’s County Fair! This classic fair includes all the familiar delights: rides, games, food, vendors, music, and much more. Meet farm animals at the barns and browse handiwork that has been entered into numerous competitions, including home arts, arts and crafts, and farm and garden.
Sep. 28: RiverFest at Historic St. Mary’s City
RiverFest is a celebration of St. Mary’s River and its watershed, and it is open to all. You can discover 101 ways to protect and enjoy waterways, enjoy live music, and take tours of Historic St. Mary’s City. Visit exhibits and speak with vendors from Southern Maryland. See birds of prey, snakes, terrapins, and more up close! At 2 pm, you can join the ceremonial “Wade-In” to the river itself!
Sep. 28: Denim and Diamonds: Country and Classic Rock Night at The White Rose
If you want an adults-only celebration this September, consider attending Country and Classic Rock Night! From 6:30 pm to 11 pm, you can don your best Wild West threads for an evening of line dancing and music by the Lonesome Ryder Band. Line dance lessons and a mechanical bull round are also included!
